05 · Skating tips & safety

New to skating? No problem!

Just starting out? Here's how to get rolling and our friendly team is always on hand for extra help and guidance.

  1. 1

    Start slow

Take your time to find your balance before picking up speed.

  2. 2

    Bend your knees

A slight crouch gives you far more stability and control.

  3. 3

    Keep moving

Standing still actually makes balancing harder so keep rolling.

  4. 4

    Wear safety gear

Helmets, wrist guards, knee and elbow pads are free to use so grab some.

  5. 5

    Use the rink walls

Hold onto the sides for support until you find your confidence.

By entering Manchester Roller Skating or taking part in any skating activity on site, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to our Terms of Entry & Participation. These terms form a legally binding agreement between you (the participant or guardian) and Manchester Roller Skating.
